Hi guys!
Had an amazing Zoom today with one of my clients and wanted to start this thread to discuss one underrated thing, or, rather, a choice.
It turns out that being your own boss, working on your business full-time and doing it from home comes with a bunch of challenges. So much so, that my client even considered dropping everything and returning to a regular 9/5 job... Even though his store brings him thousands per month.
I got the permission to share the story by the way. Here's a few takeaways from our call:
Not working for someone else means you are responsible basically for everything. If something goes wrong - ultimately it's on you. At least that's what your buyer would say.
You must have discipline to work for yourself. If you don't have the focus needed, it will result in half-baked decisions and things that never get done. At the end of the day it means not having enough money to cover your bills.
Hire professionals. I cannot stress how important it is to have a good accountant, suppliers and customer support team once you get bigger. Make sure they are not just enthusiastic about the jobs, but also qualified. Don't just hire your friends because you like them.
Guess what, you are responsible for the people you hired! All your business decisions will end up reflecting on them and this level of responsibility is not something many people are ready for.
What about you guys? Are you ready to be your own boss knowing how tough it can get?
